​Illustrations
A key motivation for me to learn art was to be able to illustrate my own books. I'm so grateful that it is becoming a reality.
The following four illustrations are for my upcoming book Silent Inheritance. The main character of the book is a girl named Jasmine who inherits the family’s buried stories and carries their forgotten dreams across the ocean to America.
The Last Smile
Jasmine's father as a little boy tugged on his grandfather's beard. His grandfather smiled at him. It turned out to be the man's last smile before he was killed by the Communists two days later.
In The Summer Palace
Jasmine's father walks in The Summer Palace with the love of his life. They ended up not being able to marry each other due to the political and social turmoil.
Grandma Lotus and Baby Jasmine
Jasmine was raised by her grandmother as her parents lived in such a violent and dangerous situation that they couldn't keep her by their side.
Jasmine's Departure
Young Jasmine was leaving for America. Her childhood friend surprised her by showing up at the airport to see her off. She only realized how deeply he loved her decades later when they met again in America.
