​Beijing Opera

I'm an avid fan of Beijing Opera.  It is an amazing art form combining vocal, performance, makeup, dance and martial arts.   The magnificently unique makeup and costuming is so intriguing.  I love drawing Beijing Opera characters.

This is a colored pencil drawing of a Beijing Opera actor who played female roles.  He was famed for his beauty and angelic voice.  His gaze, layered with sorrow and vulnerability, hinted at the hidden dangers and struggles behind his stardom.
